About the BC Water & Waste Association

The BC Water & Waste Association (BCWWA) is a not-for-profit organization that represents around 4,000 water professionals who are responsible for ensuring safe, sustainable, and secure water, sewer and stormwater systems in BC and the Yukon. Our members work every day to keep our water systems clean and safe – from source to tap to drain and back to the environment. They include water and wastewater facility operators, utility managers, engineers, technicians and technologists, consultants, government policy and regulatory staff, backflow assembly testers and cross connection control specialists, researchers, and suppliers. The Association delivers professional development, certification, and advocacy programs and services to ensure that our water systems continue to protect public health and the environment.

The BCWWA hosts a variety of committees and communities of practice, such as the Young Professionals and Drinking Water Committee. The BCWWA also engages with stakeholders on a variety of consultations and collaborations to address different issues within the industry.

While the BC Water & Waste Association manages the Community Network platform, there is no requirement to be a member of the BCWWA. The BCWWA provides different benefits and services for its members that you may find valuable. You can learn more at www.bcwwa.org.

CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL

Cross connection control is a critical mechanism for ensuring clean safe drinking water. Backflow testers play an important role in ensuring that cross connection devices are compliant and properly functioning.

The BCWWA is the certifying body for backflow testers for British Columbia and the Yukon, and works closely with post secondary institutions to ensure consistent, quality cross connection programs are delivered throughout, and the certification processes maintain a high consistency and integrity.
